  29. A menu program is provided which will introduce the programs and
  30. help you install them by running each program's setup or install
  31. software. To run this, choose Run from the File menu in the 
  32. Windows Program Manager and enter:

  34.        d:\PCDIRECT
  35.  
  36. where d: is the letter of your CD-ROM drive. To use the menu 
  37. program, your PC should have Windows 3.1, 4Mb or more RAM and a
  38. VGA or higher resolution screen.

  40. Using the CD directly
  41. =====================
  42. You can also access the CD directly using the Windows File Manager,
  43. Program Manager and other software if you do not want to use the
  44. menu program. For example, you can start one of the programs on the
  45. CD by choosing Run from the Program Manager File menu, clicking the
  46. Browse button and then finding the relevant program file. For
  47. example, selecting SETUP.EXE from the MONITEST directory will 
  48. run the Monitor Tester installation program.

  80. Notes about the CD-ROM menu program
  81. ===================================

  83. Memory limitations
  84. ------------------
  85. If your PC has limited memory, you should avoid running other
  86. programs while you use the CD-ROM Menu program. If necessary,
  87. start programs directly using the filenames given above. Note
  88. that it is a good idea in any case to close other applications
  89. before running install and setup programs on your system.

  91. Display setup
  92. -------------
  93. The menu program looks best if your PC is setup to display 
  94. 256 or more colours. Most PCs can do this provided the 
  95. relevant driver is selected in the Windows SETUP program. See
  96. the welcome message in the CD-ROM Menu program for more 
  97. information.

  99. TOOLHELP.DLL
  100. ------------
  101. The CD-ROM Menu program uses a library file called TOOLHELP.DLL
  102. that is supplied with Windows 3.1. If this file has been deleted
  103. from your main WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory, the CD-ROM program will
  104. not run. A copy of the file is provided in a directory called
  105. MININS on the CD. You can restore this to your WINDOWS\SYSTEM
  106. directory with the Windows File Manager or from DOS with
  107. a command such as:

  109.     COPY d:\MININS\TOOLHELP.DLL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
  110.  
  111. where 'C:' is the drive where WINDOWS is installed and d: is
  112. your CD drive. TOOLHELP.DLL is used by many Windows programs
  113. and should really be present in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.
